Biography
I am senior at Southern Utah University and I am currently completing a BIS of Agriculture Science and Industries with an emphasis in Range Management. I was born and raised in Ely, Nevada. This is where my passion for agriculture and the outdoors first started. I am a member of the SUU Range Management Club,  Agriculture Club and Rodeo Team. My free time is spent competing in rodeos or enjoying the outdoors. After graduation I intend to work for the Bureau of Land Management as a Range Specialist.
What is Range Management?
Rangeland is land that is too rugged  for agriculture or housing. This land can be very useful to wildlife and livestock when managed properly. A very broad definition of range management  is "the art and science of maintaining renewable resources while maximizing animal production". Range specialists are the personnel who oversee the management of rangelands.   A range specialist has very broad responsibilities. They annually monitor vegetation, soil and water conditions to develop trend data. They also assist with managing wildlife habitat and sensitive plant species.  A major part of a range specialist's job is working with ranchers who graze livestock on public land to  keep the land healthy, and make improvement to structures like fences, water troughs and cattle guards.
